NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana’ – a flagship scheme for focused development of the fisheries sector in the country with an estimated investment of ₹20,050 crore during a period of five years as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat package. The PM also pitched for new technological interventions to give a boost to the dairy sector.
Here are the highlights from PM Modi’s address:

* The thought behind all the schemes started today is that our villages should become the strength of 21st century India.
* In this century we will put effort for a ‘Blue Revolution’ which means work related to fisheries; just like the White Revolution meant the growth of dairy and Sweet Revolution meant the growth of honey production.
